Travel Green

In a World who's desire to be green is way ahead of the current local transportation options, we need to be creative in our approach of getting from point "a" to point "b". It is not our intention to get people to stop using cars and trucks altogether. In fact we love cars and we love driving. We just feel that, until technology catches up with desire, there are a few things we can all do to help our planet.

Obviously, driving less helps. It is no mystery that walking or riding your bike has no impact on the environment. We know car pooling and taking public transportation are good ideas.

But what about making a difference when you do have to drive?

Listed here are some easy things everyone can do to help. It may seem like there would be little affect, but there is power in numbers. The more people that participate; the more positive the impact will be for our environment.

Use Green Products and Providers to Maintain Your Vehicle
  • Mazzarella Car Care researchs and develops bio-degradable, environmentally safe chemicals and transforms them into professional grade auto appearance products that help auto enthusiasts and people who are into their cars get better results faster from the time spent cleaning & waxing.

  • microGreen oil filters reduce oil usage by 70% and provide a 50% reduction in oil filter use. If you must drive, this is your filter.

  • Synthetic oil. The tests are in. It works. Use it.

Driving Habits Can Make a Difference
  • Avoid accelerating too fast. Smoothly accelerate and hold a moderate speed for the conditions and traffic.

  • Use cruise control whenever possible.

  • Fill in the gaps at red lights quickly. Leaving big spaces between you and the car in front of you causes the people behind you to miss the previous light and sit in traffic longer.

  • When the light turns green, go. Helps everyone get there quicker.

  • Come to a complete stop at stop signs; be sure it is clear then go.

  • Don't pull out in front of cars that are too close. That hurts their momentum and forces you to over accelerate wasting gas for both of you.

  • Know your destination. Get directions before you head out or use in car navigation. If you need one, TigerGPS.com offers most brands at discounted prices.

  • Resist the urge to talk on the cell phone. You will be a more efficient driver.

  • Learn to merge without stopping on the merge lane. Match the speed and merge in.

  • Let people merge. Blocking folks that are merging is wrong in so many ways.

  • Use your turn signals. It helps others make better, more efficient decisions.

  • Tire Air Gauges maintain accurate air pressure to help save money at the pump and extend tire wear.

  • Wash you car at car washes that recycle their water.

We want to hear from you. If you have additional ideas, let us know. We will ad them to the list.
